Altered Sierra Tonalite

Field Collector: Esper Signius Larsen Jr.

Place Collected:Near Auburndale Corona Quadrangle, Southern California
Object number: ROC21729
DescriptionGrey medium grained (1-5 mm) plutonic igneous rock that is rust-colored on a weathered surface. The individual grains are difficulat to see, but the quartzofeldspathic regions are light-grey to tan and the amphibole(?) regions are slightly green, so perhaps altered to chlorite and/or epidote. This rock is probably metamorphosed.
